Margaritaville Party

The office, which I work at, has been hosting this spectacular Margaritaville party every year and I was able to be a part of it for the first time. The one lady who made this all happen was  Jani               (http://funjani.blogspot.com/). She had the most creative ideas that went along with the theme of Margaritaville beach party.  Her delicious snacks, which included “cheeseburgers in paradise” and “key lime sushi”, were delicious beyond belief! They also rented Margarita machines that made both rum and tequila drinks.  Other items that Jani had was a shrimp boat, a mini surfboard to put the deserts on, handmade decorations , and inflatable trees with monkeys on them. Who could forget the pink flamingos! Jani and the rest of the people helping her did an amazing job putting this all together. Thank you and I look forward to what is in store next year!  Here is where you can find the posting about my photos http://funjani.blogspot.com/2014/10/margaritaville-2014-photos.html

Solana's Baptism

The Michaels’ / Szymanskis’ are such a wonderful family and I am thankful they are a part of my life. Solana’s baptism was this last Sunday, where she celebrated with all of her family. The tradition of the Filipino culture is to cook Lechon , or pig, at these family gatherings. Mr. Michael just bought a spit roaster and was dying to use it. Some other food items that they usually cook are pancit (rice noodles with pork and vegetables), lumpia (fried egg rolls with beef) , turon (fried egg rolls with banana), fish escabeche (fish marinaded in vinegar with peppers), suman (rice cakes wrapped in banana leaves), sweet and sour meat balls, puchero (beef with potato and peppers), satay (beef on skewers), gulaman (type of jello) and how can I forget just regular white rice! As you can tell, most every of these dishes are meat dishes. Well this fiesta food was more than delicious and the guests were able to take home a to-go container full of this yummy food!
